Ingredients
- 2.5 cups cake flour
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup salted butter-room temperature
- ¼ cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg white
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- ½ teaspoon almond extract
- ⅓ cup salted butter-room temperature
- 2.5 cups powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 2.5-3 tablespoon half and half
- food coloring
- sprinkles
Directions
Sift together flour, cornstarch, powder and salt. Whisk to combine. With mixer, whip butter, shortening, and sugar on medium for 4 minutes or until very fluffy. Add egg and mix. Add egg white and extracts. Mix until combined. With mixer on low, slowly add flour mixture just until combined. Refrigerate two hours. Line sheets with parchment paper, scoop our 1/4 cup dough. Roll into a ball. Sprinkle lightly with flour, press dough with a cover or glass and put on sheet. Bake at 375° 9-11 minutes. Cool five minutes, then transfer to wire rack. Cool completely. Frosting: Combine butter, sugar, vanilla, and half and half. Whip until smooth and fluffy. Mix in food coloring. Frost and sprinkle quickly because the frosting will set quickly. |
