Ingredients
- 2 cups warm water-105-115°
- 2 packages active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 5.5-6.5 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions
In medium mixing bowl, combine water, yeast and sugar. Let stand about 10 minutes until it is foamy. In processor mix 5 cups flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and oil and pulse. Add more flour to make the dough into a ball. Place balled dough in a large greased pan, turning once. Cover and let stand about 30 minutes. Punch down and divide dough in half. Cover and let stand 10 minutes. Lightly grease 2 large baking sheets. Flatten each dough round into a 6 inch diameter disc. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 400°. Bake bread for 10-15 minutes. Cover with foil to prevent overbrowning, tapping to hear a hollow sound with the bread is finished. Cool on wire racks. |
