Ingredients

  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¾ teaspoon ginger
  • 2 cups flour
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Beat shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and molasses. Mix in dry ingredients. Shape into a size of a walnut and roll in sugar. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
