Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¼ cup soft butter
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • cup butter-melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups fruit-optional

Directions

1. For the topping, combine with a fork the first four ingredients.
2. Combine dry ingredients. In medium bowl, whisk egg until frothy. Add 3/4 cup sugar and 1/3 cup butter and whisk until smooth. Add milk and vanilla, whisk until combined.
3. With wooden spoon, stir in flour mixture. Preheat oven to 375°.
4. Pour into 9 inch square greased and sugared pan. If preferred, add 2 cups of fruit, such as blueberries, apples, raspberries.
5. Bake for 25-35 minutes. Serve warm.
