Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

Directions

Whisk together flour and baking powder. Add shortening and mix with hands until crumbly. Mix together water and salt. Gradually add water and mix with hands until the dough forms a ball. Add more water if needed. Cover and rest dough for 20 minutes. Coat hands with shortening and divide the dough into 12 balls. With a small rolling pin, roll out to a thin circle. Cook on heated cast iron skillet, 15-20 seconds each side.
