Ingredients

  • 1 whole red cabbage head, chopped
  • 2 large tart apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 6 whole peppercorns
  • 2 whole allspice
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a dutch oven pan. Bring to boil, cover and simmer 1 1/4 hours. Discard whole spices before serving.
