Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 celery rib, chopped
- 1 carrot, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ pound ground sirloin
- ½ pound hot Italian sausage
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- ¼ cup dry red wine
- ¾ cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 14 ounces crushed canned tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon basil and oregano, EACH
Directions
Mince onion, celery, carrot, and garlic in a food processor; set aside. Heat oil in saute pan over medium-high. Add sirloin and sausage and saute until brown. Add minced mixture to pan, saute 2-3 minutes. Stir in paste and cook one minute. Stir in wine and cook one minute. Add broth, tomatoes, and spices. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook 15 minutes. Serve over noodles or creamy polenta. |
