Ingredients

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound hot turkey Italian sausage
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, 1/4
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 14.5 oz petite-diced tomatoes
  • ¼ cup fresh basil
  • 1 cup shredded full milk mozzarella
  • 1 cup grated fresh parm cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Cook pasta, omitting salt, drain, set aside. Remove casings from sausage. Cook sausage, onion, and garlic in a skillet over medium heat until sausage is browned, stirring to crumble. Add paste, salt, pepper and tomatoes to pan, bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Combine cooked pasta, sausage mixture and basil. Place half of the pasta mixture in a 4 quart casserole coated with cooking spray. Top with 1/2 of the mozzarella and 1/2 the parmesan. Repeat layers. Bake for 25 minutes.
